It’s nothing complicated. I use Photoshop Elements which lets me type text directly on the image in any font or color I like. Some images have a good place for a caption. Others need to be have extra space added; which requires some creatively to look natural. For basic captioning, that’s about all you need.
I do spend quite a bit of time trying to create a nice large, high resolution captioned image for my followers. However, most folks don’t do that. I try to seek out the best version of an image. Then, I use some pro-grade image enhancement apps to improve the image quality.
